While the year 2023 has passed, it was a historic "high-fidelity" year for space exploration that set the stage for our current 2026 missions. Major milestones included the first orbital flight test of SpaceX’s Starship in April 2023, which, despite its explosive end, provided critical data for today's lunar lander development. Other key launches included the ESA's JUICE mission (JUpiter ICy moons Explorer), which began its eight-year journey to Jupiter’s moons in April 2023. India’s Chandrayaan-3 successfully launched in July 2023, eventually making India the first nation to land near the lunar south pole. NASA also launched the Psyche mission in October 2023 to study a metal-rich asteroid. Looking ahead at our current 2026 calendar, we are anticipating the launch of the Artemis III support missions and several private Axiom Space flights to the ISS. 2023 served as the foundational year for the current "Rapid Reusability" era of spaceflight, proving that the cadence of launches could exceed 100 per year, a feat that is now becoming the standard for 2026.
