What backpack does US military use?

it's not a bad idea per se, but army backpacks have few advantages over most hiking backpacks. The only advantage to speak of would be that army backpacks are often much cheaper for surplus packs. They are also sometimes incredibly durable, thoug that can be hit and miss.

An empty one seems to weigh more than a civilian backpack because it needs to be able to endure a harsher environment for a longer period of time than a civilian backpack, since it needs to carry more weight and the consequences of it failing can be way more serious.
