It's a rule that was in place for decades: no alcohol on the sand at Fort Lauderdale Beach. But after more than 30 years, the ban on booze has been lifted. Hotels like the Hilton are now rolling out your favorite cocktail on the beach.
According to gulfshoresal.gov, alcohol is NOT permitted on the beaches. There are plenty of other prohibited items to make sure you are aware of ahead of your beach trip. One other interesting thing not permitted in Gulf Shores are beach weddings. Weddings are NOT allowed on the Gulf Shores Public Beaches.
The now-annual ban started after law enforcement had to deal with multiple incidents with spring breakers in 2016. According to Gulf Shores Police Chief Edward Delmore, the ban was initially put into place in an attempt to curb the dangerous atmosphere like the one that was happening then.
