A Grand Suite is considered to be the true entry-level to the full suite class on Royal Caribbean. Grand Suites are upgraded veranda staterooms, offering more space in both the room and on the balcony, as well as coming with a number of extra benefits.
Category 4B - Spacious Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony. Description: Spacious Balcony staterooms have two twin beds that convert to a Royal King, a private balcony, a sitting area with sofa, and bathroom.
The number corresponds to the type of stateroom (inside, oceanview, verandah) and typically the higher the number the more economical the stateroom is. The letter that follows it (A-E) corresponds to the location on the ship and typically the higher decks have either an A or a B, but that is not always the case.
Can a guest booked in a Sea or Sky suite purchase an upgrade to receive Star amenities? The exclusive package of Star amenities is available only to guests who purchase a Star suite.
Really, the Grand Suite gives some small areas of preferential treatment, that are great frills, but don't have that much impact on your enjoyment of the cruise, IMO. And yes, I have stayed in the GS several times. Also stayed in Oceanview and enjoyed that cruise just as much.
Midship staterooms on the lowest passenger deck are the most excellent spot to be on a cruise ship in this instance because you don't feel the vessel sway as much.
