The United States holds the title for the largest Disney resort in the world. Specifically, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, is a massive complex spanning approximately 25,000 acres (about 39 square miles). To put its size in perspective, it is roughly the size of the city of San Francisco or twice the size of Manhattan. It contains four major theme parks, two water parks, over 25 themed resort hotels, a shopping district, and several golf courses. While other Disney resorts exist in France (Disneyland Paris), Japan (Tokyo Disney), and China (Shanghai and Hong Kong), none come close to the scale of the Florida property. Shanghai Disney Resort is the second largest, but at roughly 963 acres, it is still just a fraction of the Florida giant's total land area, which remains the undisputed king of theme park real estate.
