Even though the park doesn't close immediately following the fireworks show, there is always a mass exodus of more than 10,000 people!
I've done the post party and felt it was very worth it. You get a prime spot for the firework show before the pre party comes in. And then after the show you get to eat dessert while the mad rush to transportation happens.
