What did the minions ride at Universal used to be?

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem is a 3D simulator ride located in the Production Central area of Universal Studios Florida. It replaced Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast, and The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera.

The space currently occupied by Despicable Me Minion Mayhem at Universal Studios has a long history of "simulator" heritage. At Universal Studios Florida, the ride replaced Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast (which operated from 2003 to 2011), and before that, it was the site of the legendary The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera (1990–2002). At Universal Studios Hollywood, the Minions took over the spot previously held by T2-3D: Battle Across Time, a hybrid 3D film and live-action show. Interestingly, at Universal Studios Japan, the Minion area replaced Back to the Future: The Ride, which was a fan-favorite for decades. In 2026, the ride at Universal Studios Singapore is relatively new, having replaced the Madagascar: A Crate Adventure boat ride. Each of these "past lives" shared a common theme of utilizing cutting-edge motion base technology, making the transition to the Minions' high-energy simulator a natural evolution for the theme park's real estate.

Reviewed by ImWhyTheRumIsGone Review Date: 08/05/2021 Fun theme, but it's one of the nauseating sim rides. Even without 3D, it's really jarring. If the minion dance party is happening, it's a lot of fun when you're exiting. Worth a ride, but not multiple times.
