What does a first class seat on United Airlines look like?

Our new, extra-spacious United First seat was designed for comfort and convenience, whether you want to relax or work during your flight. It features beautifully contoured two-tone leather, a six-way adjustable headrest and a padded articulating seat cushion that cradles you as you recline.

On a United Airlines domestic flight in 2026, a "First Class" seat is a wide, leather-upholstered recliner arranged in a 2-2 configuration. These seats are significantly larger than Economy, typically offering a 37-to-39-inch pitch (legroom) and a width of about 20–21 inches. In 2026, almost all First Class seats feature the "United Signature" design, which includes a granite-topped cocktail tray between seats, a dedicated water bottle holder, and a multi-way adjustable headrest. Each seat is equipped with a large 13-inch High-Definition touchscreen for seatback entertainment, as well as both USB-C and standard AC power outlets. On "United Business" (international short-haul) or "United Polaris" (long-haul), the seat looks entirely different—it is a private pod that converts into a 6-foot-6-inch flat bed, featuring a sliding door for privacy on the newer Boeing 787 and 777 fleets. For domestic flights, while you won't get a bed, you do receive a dedicated "oversized" tray table for dining or working and a deeper recline that makes the 2026 First Class experience markedly more comfortable than the "Economy Plus" or standard cabins.
