What does eTA mean for visa?

What is an eTA? eTA: an electronic travel authorization or eTA is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to or transiting to a country, usually by air. It allows the destination or transit country to screen travelers before they arrive, increasing visibility and security.

You may be eligible to apply for an eTA (instead of a visitor visa) if you're a: Citizen from select visa-required countries and you're travelling to Canada by air. However, you still need visitor visa (not an eTA) when arriving by car, bus, train, or boat, including a cruise ship.
