What does it mean when Magic Band vibrates?

As you search for the target, the MagicBand+ will light up and vibrate. Green means you're getting closer, while red means you're going in the wrong direction.

They run off of a small battery inside the band. Disney says the batteries are designed to last for 2 years. I have read of batteries lasting for up to five years. Since a Disney Magic Band is just a link to your My Disney Experience account, it can be used for many trips until the battery no longer works.

Flashing Red indicates no battery. You should charge your band at your earliest convenience. Flashing Yellow indicates Low Battery. Continue charging your band until green for the most optimal usage duration throughout your day. Flashing Green indicates High Battery.

The battery can last an estimated 1 to 3 days, but it is recommended to charge the band overnight for the most optimal usage. To conserve your band's battery life, simply turn it off—then easily power it back on when you want to access all its features.

It's not entirely necessary. Although MagicBands can make your park experience a touch (or tap) easier and can provide some unique experiences, you can function just fine in the park without one. General speaking, almost all MagicBands make the normal green lights with sounds at touch points, as seen in the “Normal Effects” section. Limited Edition bands, which usually have a set number produced and coming in a special box, can make special effects randomly as certain touch points throughout Disney.

Recycle. Disney makes it very easy to recycle your used Magic Bands. Simply go to any front desk or guest relations center and ask them to recycle your used bands. You can also recycle them at home.

That being said, a MagicBand can only be linked to one ticket or pass at a time. If not everyone in the group has a MagicBand, the people without a band can use their phones instead. You can, however, link more than one MagicBand to a particular pass or ticket.
