What does S and W mean on Delta?

Pricing a Delta Comfort+ fare in 'S' Class If 'S' is not available or there are no fares in 'S' class, the travel agent should rebook into 'W' class which is the higher of the two Delta Comfort+ fares and use the price as booked entry.

In Delta’s 2026 fare hierarchy, S and W are "Fare Class" codes that indicate your ticket type and price point. Specifically, W and S are used for Delta Comfort+ (premium economy seating). "W" is typically the higher-priced, flexible version of Comfort+, while "S" represents a discounted or "restricted" Comfort+ fare. If you see these on your ticket, you are entitled to extra legroom, dedicated overhead bin space, and "premium" snacks and drinks. A 2026 policy shift also introduced "Comfort+ Basic" in some markets using these codes, which might limit your ability to change the flight. Always check your "Fare Basis" in the Fly Delta app; if your code starts with W or S, you’ll be boarding in Priority Group 3 and enjoying that extra 3-4 inches of legroom that defines the Comfort+ experience.
