Our safety inspectors monitor pre-operational, operational and post operational phases of FAA regulated Commercial Space Transportation activities which can impact public safety and the safety of property.
Customized aircraft are used for flight inspection, with dedicated receivers and sensors to collect data from the navigational aids being inspected. Computers decode the data and compare to the real aircraft position, with results displayed to the inspector for verification while airborne.
In partnership with international aviation counterparts, the FAA oversees air navigation and aviation infrastructure. The FAA issues approvals for aeronautical products and parts and works collaboratively with foreign civil aviation authorities to establish safety standards and provide oversight around the world.
you wish to fly an N reg- aircraft in UK airspace, you may do so with your FAA airman certificate and the aircraft provided that the pilot and the aircraft are not resident in the UK. If you live in the UK (or the operator is based in the UK), you need to hold a UK issued validation or Private Pilot Licence (PPL).
However, FAA does not govern military aircraft. The military has their own rules and regulations, but the military follows FAA regulations when flying in National Airspace. There is airspace in the US and elsewhere that is set aside for military operations such as the Barry Goldwater Gunnery Range.
We carry out these checks to make sure our passengers have all the required documents of the country they are flying to so that when they arrive at their destination, they will not be sent back due to lack of documents.
The airlines computer system may use the information to flag to staff to carry out a manual documentation check to make sure that you have a suitable visa in your passport for the destination you are travelling to, in addition to meeting any other conditions for travel (eg, return/onward ticket).
