While Niagara Falls is world-famous for its immense water volume, it is relatively modest in height at approximately 51 meters (167 feet). In contrast, Angel Falls in Venezuela is the world's tallest uninterrupted waterfall, plummeting a staggering 979 meters (3,212 feet). Other giants that dwarf Niagara include South Africa's Tugela Falls (948m), Peru's Tres Hermanas Falls (914m), and Hawaii's Olo'upena Falls (900m). Even in the United States, Yosemite Falls in California reaches 739 meters (2,425 feet). Niagara's fame comes from its width and the sheer power of the water flowing over its crest, but in a purely vertical competition, thousands of waterfalls globally are significantly taller.
