Samira Khashoggi was the first wife of Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed and the mother of Dodi Fayed. A Saudi Arabian author and journalist, she was the sister of the high-profile Saudi businessman Adnan Khashoggi. She married Al-Fayed in 1954 after meeting him on a beach in Alexandria, but the marriage was short-lived, lasting only two years before they divorced in 1956. Following the split, she returned to Saudi Arabia and later married Anas Yassin, a Saudi ambassador. Samira was a progressive figure in her own right, founding the women's magazine Al Sharkiah and actively supporting the education of girls in Saudi Arabia. Tragically, she passed away in March 1986 at the age of 51 following a heart attack. She did not live to see the global media frenzy surrounding her son Dodi’s relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales, or the tragic car accident that claimed both their lives in 1997. Her legacy survives through her literary contributions and her role as a pioneer for women's voices in the Saudi media landscape.
