What happened to Paul and Karen from Escape To The Chateau?

Karen and Paul owned and commuted to the château for 16 years. The idea had always been to ultimately retire there. Sadly the pandemic has put an end to their dreams and now they have sold their property. But they don't regret a single day of their adventure.

Paul and Karen, the fan-favorite couple from Escape to the Chateau: DIY, have moved on to a new chapter after successfully restoring Château La Perrière in the Loire Valley. After owning and painstakingly renovating the 17th-century property for over 16 years, the couple officially sold the château in late 2021. Throughout their time on the show, they were known for their practical approach and for balancing the renovation with their lives back in the UK (Paul ran an office refurbishment company and Karen worked in design). They cited the challenges brought on by the pandemic as a significant factor in their decision to sell, noting that it was time to move on to a new adventure closer to their family in Berkshire. Despite selling their "labor of love," the couple remains active in the "château community," with Karen continuing to offer her expertise as a designer and consultant for others looking to purchase and restore historic French properties. Their journey remains a highlighted story on the show as a realistic example of the "hard work and heart" required to manage a historic estate.
