What happened to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk?

The original wooden Boardwalk was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel in 1954, which gave way to a new concrete based pathway that is still in place today. In 2006, the town voted in favor of upgrading the boardwalk at a cost of $6.4 million dollars.
