The Witches' Wheel at Cedar Point, a classic "Enterprise" style flat ride, was officially retired and demolished at the end of the 2018 season. It had been a staple of the park since 1977, located in the Gemini Midway area near the Magnum XL-200 roller coaster. The ride consisted of a large wheel that would spin horizontally before tilting to a near-vertical 90-degree angle, using centrifugal force to keep riders in their seats without the need for traditional restraints. Cedar Point made the decision to remove the ride to make way for future park expansion and new attractions. Specifically, the site where the Witches' Wheel once stood was utilized during the construction and thematic integration of the "Wild Mouse" spinning coaster and the revamped "Boardwalk" area of the park which opened in 2023. While many long-time fans were saddened to see the vintage thrill ride go, its removal followed the park's standard lifecycle of retiring older, high-maintenance mechanical rides to ensure there is physical space for the high-tech, record-breaking installations that the park is known for.
