What happened to the Wonders of Life Pavilion at Epcot?

In 2007, the pavilion closed permanently, with no official reason given. While it is not operational to the public, it is still commonly used for private and corporate events. In 2007, temporary walls were placed around the existing attractions when Epcot hosted the Food and Wine festival in the pavilion.

The Wonders of Life Pavilion, once home to iconic attractions like Body Wars and Cranium Command, officially closed as a year-round attraction in 2007. For over a decade after its closure, the distinctive gold-domed building was used as a "Festival Center" for Epcot’s Food & Wine and Flower & Garden events. In 2019, Disney announced that the pavilion would be transformed into the "Play! Pavilion," a "digital metropolis" featuring interactive games and character experiences. However, due to the 2020 pandemic and subsequent budget reallocations, the project was quietly shelved and removed from the official park maps. As of early 2026, the building remains mostly unused for guests, occasionally serving as a private event space or staging area. While fans of the "classic Epcot" era hope for a reimagining, the "DNA" of the original health-and-wellness theme has mostly been dispersed into other areas of the park, leaving the dome as a nostalgic reminder of the park's original educational mission.
