What happens if it thunderstorms at Disney World?

Unless the weather is really bad (hurricane level), the theme parks don't typically close. However, safety is the first concern so some attractions may shut down until the weather clears. Many Guests go back to their Resort hotels during rainy weather. We have made some absolutely magical memories on rainy days.

1) Rides that close during lightning – Cast Members keep a constant eye on the weather radar at Walt Disney World. Unfortunately when lightning strikes within 10 miles of the parks all outdoor rides, including water rides close for the safety of the guests.

Some parks are better to visit on rainy days than others. At EPCOT, the only attraction that would close due to weather is Test Track. Most of the other rides — along with plenty of restaurants and shops — are located in Future World and are relatively close together so you wouldn't have to walk far in the rain.

What is this? The show must go on, and even when it is rainy, Disney World is open. Now, of course if Disney does happen to close for a weather event (like a hurricane) they will issue refunds then. But, if it is just a rainy day at Disney, the parks will remain open and no rain checks or refunds will be given.

That said, don't expect Magic Kingdom or Disney Springs to be ghost towns just because of a few rain showers. Many guests will simply take their fun inside instead by going on some dark rides, seeing a show or getting something to eat.

Monorail is, by design, a grade-separated system. They do not interfere with existing transport modes. Unlike conventional rail systems, straddle monorails wrap around their track and are thus not physically capable of derailing, unless the track itself suffers a catastrophic failure.

Well, Disney doesn't evacuate their animals. They remain on property. Actually, a lot of them are moved backstage to their pens and barns that are built to withstand a Major Hurricane.
