What hotel did Planet Hollywood used to be?

The site of Planet Hollywood was previously occupied by the Aladdin, an Arabian-themed hotel and casino which operated until 1997. Real estate developer Jack Sommer demolished the Aladdin in 1998 to make way for a new version, with London Clubs International as his partner.

The site of the Bellagio was previously occupied by the Dunes hotel-casino, which opened in 1955. Through his company Mirage Resorts, casino owner Steve Wynn purchased the Dunes in November 1992, for $75 million. He intended to demolish it and build a new resort in its place.

In 1992 the building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Although the Moulin Rouge complex remained shuttered for decades, many plans had been hatched to rebuild and reopen the cultural landmark. But on May 29, 2003, a fire ripped through the buildings, almost entirely gutting the complex.
