The first Haunted Mansion attraction has a long history from its conception as a walkthrough tour in the early 1950s. First opened as a Disneyland ride in Anaheim, California, circa 1969, the home was inspired by the now-demolished Shipley-Lydecker House in Baltimore City, Maryland.
