What is a LUMO train? Lumo is a 100% electric train service, travelling exclusively down the East Coast of the UK between London & Edinburgh, calling at Stevenage, Newcastle & Morpeth.


What is difference between Lumo and LNER?

They come from the same family and were built by Hitachi. Our only issue would be that the Lumo trains are only five carriages, which means they're likelier to feel a bit 'cosier' on busier services! Railsmartr says: LNER has the edge with longer trains and more seats, but the trains themselves look much the same!


Do Lumo trains have table seats?

Aside from the lack of First Class the key features of the coaches on a Lumo train are: There are only two sets of table seats per coach, so most of the seats are airline style.


Are LUMO trains faster?

The trains are fairly fast — roughly four-and-a-half hours from London to Edinburgh — though admittedly not as fast as the fastest LNER trains, which travel London-Edinburgh in four hours and 20 minutes.


What is a Lumo priority seat?

Can you sit in First Class on a full train?

Only if the train guard opens first class for second class passengers. Otherwise you must pay the surcharge to travel in first class.
