The main difference in these staterooms is their location. The 5A staterooms are located around Deck Seven, midship while the 5Bs are forward and aft of the 5As on Deck Seven. The 5Cs are located on Deck Six forward and aft.

A: If you're not staying in a Concierge level stateroom, the best deck to stay on Disney Wish is deck 9. On this deck, you will be only 2 decks below the main dining areas and pools. You could stay on deck 10 which is directly below the main amenity deck 11.
The private deck on Disney Wish was nice, too. I'd 100% book Disney concierge level again and would say it can be worth it — mostly on the shorter cruises where every minute matters more than it would on a seven- to 10-day cruise.
Categories 06A and 06B have whitewall verandahs, but otherwise the only difference in the categories is ship location. Deluxe Oceanview staterooms with verandahs include a queen-size bed and single convertible sofa.
The Disney Wish 1,966 sq. ft. Concierge Wish Tower Suite offers accommodations for up to 8 guests with it's own grand spiral staircase, an open dining salon, pantry with wet bar stocked with water and soda.
Most soft drinks are free at the pool deck dispensers, in the buffet restaurant (Marceline Market on the Wish, Cabanas everywhere else), and in the main dining rooms. You're welcome to get free refills at these locations as often as you want in whatever quantity you desire.
Since it's your family's first cruise, I would recommend booking a mid-ship or aft stateroom (in that order). Forward staterooms tend to feel the most motion of the sea and just in case you have anyone prone to seasickness, a strategic location might help lessen those symptoms.
