Based on official announcements and construction updates, here’s what’s coming to Cedar Point in 2024:

1. Top Thrill 2 – The Headline Attraction

This is the complete transformation of the former Top Thrill Dragster into a new multi-launch strata coaster. Type: Hydraulic launch → LSM launch coaster. Key Features: Three launches (forward, backward, then a final powerful forward launch). 420-foot-tall top hat (same height as original). Spike: A 420-foot-tall backward spike where trains will roll back before the final launch. New Trains: 6-car trains with individual stadium-style seating (like Steel Vengeance) and new lap bar restraints. Speed: Will reach 120 mph. Manufacturer: Zamperla (handling the electrical and control systems, new trains, and launches).

Status: Construction is well underway, with the spike and top hat visible on the skyline. It is scheduled to open in Spring 2024.

2. Renovations & New Areas

  • The Boardwalk: A refreshed mid-park area where Top Thrill 2 is located. It will feature:
    • Grand Pavilion Restaurant: A new, modern dining venue replacing the former Game Day restaurant.
    • Updated landscaping, seating, and games.
