The Fantasy Class is often considered the most unusual and "iconic" class in Carnival’s history, primarily due to its "Neon-Gothic" interiors designed by Joe Farcus. Launched in the 1990s, these ships are famous for their six-deck atriums filled with miles of color-changing neon tubing and "flashy" themes that range from Egyptian mythology to urban street scenes. In 2026, these ships are viewed as "boutique" compared to modern giants, carrying only 2,000 passengers and offering a much more intimate, "retro" vibe. Another unusual addition in 2026 is the "Carnival Fun Italian Style" ships (Carnival Venezia and Firenze), which are technically Vista-class ships originally built for Costa Cruises. These feature Italian-themed decor and "Venetian" atriums, creating a unique "hybrid" experience that feels very different from the standard "Americana" aesthetic found on the rest of the Carnival fleet.
