Continental Airlines no longer exists as a standalone brand; it is now part of United Airlines. The two carriers underwent a massive "merger of equals" that was officially finalized in 2010. While the combined company took the United name, it famously adopted Continental's globe logo and livery style as a nod to the partnership. By early 2012, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a single operating certificate, and the Continental brand was formally retired. In 2019, United took a final step in this integration by removing "Continental" from its parent company's legal name, changing it from United Continental Holdings to United Airlines Holdings. Today, any flight you take that would have historically been a Continental route is operated by United, and the legacy of Continental lives on primarily through the visual identity and the merged "MileagePlus" loyalty program.
