As of February 2026, DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom has officially closed to make way for a brand-new, highly immersive land called Tropical Americas. This new area, themed after a fictional village named "Pueblo Esperanza," is inspired by the biodiversity of the northern part of South America and Central America. The centerpieces of this expansion include a massive attraction themed after Disney's Encanto, featuring the magical Casita, and a complete reimagining of the DINOSAUR ride into a world-class Indiana Jones adventure. Additionally, the land will feature a wood-carved carousel and a variety of themed dining options. Construction is currently in full swing, with an expected opening date in late 2027. For now, the area is a restricted construction zone as Disney Imagineers work to transform the quirky roadside carnival into a lush, story-driven rainforest environment.

The Dinoland U.S.A. area of Animal Kingdom is officially extinct. After shutting the area down in May, Disney revealed some of its plans for the land (which were first teased in 2022), pointing to experiences inspired by the Encanto and Indiana Jones films.

In Kilimanjaro safari, the animals are kept in pens, like in any other zoo, so they don't attack guests. Guests are separated from all animals with the potential to attack them by camouflaged barriers. Safari cars can only be approached by grazing animals, and their true danger would be a stampede.

Does the ride have upside-down loops and drops? TRON Lightcycle / Run does not go upside down, but it does have big drops. There are also twists and turns throughout the ride — after all, you're racing on a motorbike.

Back in 2023, Disney announced during Star Wars Celebration that there would be more stories and characters and all new adventures coming to Star Tours in 2024. And now we know at least one of those new stories and characters will be Ahsoka, as seen in the new Disney+ series bearing the same name.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that Animal Kingdom is home to many different animals that require care. This requires the park to close earlier than others so cast members can care for the animals and prepare for the next day.

Some Guests feel that Disney's Animal Kingdom park is a half-day park. But you and I know that those naysayers are incorrect! With so much to do and see throughout the park, my family and I always plan to spend an entire day at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It also happens to be our favorite of the four Theme Parks.
