What is happening with the Mirage in Las Vegas?

A guitar-shaped room tower will eventually replace it, but the iconic volcano in front of the Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip is getting a bit of a reprieve.

Hard Rock International plans to close The Mirage, gut the entire three-wing hotel and casino and spend billions to expand and upgrade the property beginning in late 2023 or 2024, the company revealed Wednesday.

The biggest change at the property will be the construction of a guitar-shaped hotel.
