"Top of Europe" is the world-famous brand name and designation for the Jungfraujoch, a high-altitude col located between the Jungfrau and Mönch peaks in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. It is famously home to the highest railway station in Europe, situated at a staggering 3,454 meters (11,332 feet) above sea level. This destination is accessible via the historic Jungfrau Railway, a marvel of engineering that runs mostly through a tunnel bored into the Eiger and Mönch mountains. Once at the "Top of Europe," visitors can explore the Sphinx Observatory, which offers 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks and the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The complex also features an "Ice Palace" carved directly into the glacier, various restaurants, and a "Snow Fun Park" that allows for winter activities even in the middle of summer. While it is not the highest point in Europe (that honor belongs to Mount Elbrus or Mont Blanc depending on the definition of the continent), the Jungfraujoch holds the title of "Top of Europe" because it represents the highest point accessible to the general public via a standard passenger train service.
