In the hospitality industry, these three terms define exactly how much of the sea you can see from your room. An Ocean Front room is the most desirable and expensive category; it is positioned directly facing the water, meaning you look straight out at the ocean with no buildings or obstructions in the way. An Ocean View room, by contrast, only guarantees that some portion of the ocean is visible from the room—you might have to look out at an angle from your balcony, or you might see the water over the top of a pool area or palm trees. Ocean Side is the most ambiguous term; it simply means the room is located in the building or wing of the hotel that is closest to the ocean, but it does not guarantee a view. You might be on the side of the hotel that faces the water, but if your room is on the ground floor behind a hedge, you won't actually see the sea. For a 2026 vacation, always review room photos carefully; "Ocean Front" usually implies a direct, sweeping vista, while "Ocean View" can often be a "partial" or "oblique" glimpse of the horizon.
