The evening Extra Magic Hours program lets Disney resort guests enjoy a different theme park on specified nights for about 2 hours after it closes to the general public. Guests pay no additional charge to participate but must scan their MagicBands at each ride or attraction they wish to experience.
Disney After Hours is a specially ticketed event (meaning it's a ticket that is purchased separate from regular park tickets) that allows people to enter Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom at 7 p.m. and stay until midnight or 1 a.m. (ending time varies by date).
Keep in mind that the shops will all close right when Extended Evening Hours end and do not stay open that extra hour like stores do after normal park closing hours. Considering we got on all the most popular rides at EPCOT, I would say that YES Extended Evening Hours are worth it.

Disney After Hours tickets are around the same price as regular, full-day theme park tickets. Expensive: Since the event is typically 3 hours long, then the cost per hour is much high compared to normal tickets. Disney After Hours is only available on select dates (see below) Not all rides are open.
Because Magic Kingdom is often the number one park on visitors' lists, they'll hit it first on their trip. If they arrive on a weekend, that makes it a Sunday or Monday! Generally, Tuesdays through Thursdays are much less crowded than other days of the week.
Disney Resort hotel bus services typically begin around 45 minutes before the parks open and end an hour after park closing. This applies to Early Entry or Extra Magic Hours events. Buses operate until 2:00 AM between Disney Resort Hotels and Disney Springs.
Between the rides, stage shows and other entertainment, there is a ton to see and do at Magic Kingdom and the pressure to experience everything can be anxiety-inducing, to say the least. Admittedly, to truly see and do it all at Magic Kingdom, you do need to spend at least two days.
However, that has changed. You now can only park hop AFTER 2PM. So you'll have to wait until well after lunchtime if you're planning on visiting another park. However, this rule is different for Annual Passholders.

Is Genie+ available during Early Theme Park Entry, Extended Evening Hours or After Hours events? No, Genie+ and the individual Lightning Lane selections are only available during normal park hours.
Since the start of Walt Disney World's phased reopening, Extra Magic Hours have been suspended due to restricted hours during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it seems this resort guest benefit won't be coming back at all—at least not in its previous form.
