The former Grand Hyatt New York, located at 175 Park Avenue adjacent to Grand Central Terminal, is being replaced by a massive mixed-use supertall skyscraper currently known as 175 Park Avenue (formerly "Project Commodore"). As of early 2026, this development is moving forward as one of the most ambitious construction projects in New York City. The new structure is designed to be approximately 1,581 feet (482 meters) tall, making it one of the tallest buildings in the Western Hemisphere. The project is a collaboration between RXR Realty and TF Cornerstone, featuring a design by the renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). The new tower will house roughly 2.1 million square feet of high-end office space, along with a significantly smaller but more modern Grand Hyatt hotel on the upper floors. The project also includes major public infrastructure improvements, such as an expanded transit hall for Grand Central and a new 25,000-square-foot public plaza that will wrap around the base of the building.
