What is Ryanair Family Plus?

Ryanair introduced Family Plus to help families travel seamlessly across the skies. Taking children into account, there are free seats for passengers under 12 years old, so everyone sits together with discounted standard seats.

Ryanair Family Plus is a paid service bundle designed to make flying with children on Ryanair easier and less stressful. It’s not a loyalty program, but rather an optional add-on you purchase when booking your flight.

Here’s a breakdown of what it typically includes and key things to know:

Core Inclusions of Family Plus:

When you buy a Family Plus package for each child (usually aged 2-11), it includes the following for that child:

  1. Reserved Seating: The child and one accompanying adult are automatically assigned seats together (usually standard seats, not priority). Other family members need to purchase seats separately if they want to sit together.
  2. Priority Boarding: The whole family (up to 4 children and 4 adults on the same booking) gets Priority Boarding. This allows you to board early, find overhead bin space, and get settled without the rush.
  3. 20kg Checked Bag: Each child with a Family Plus package gets a 20kg checked-in bag allowance.
  4. Small Cabin Bag + Under Seat Bag: The standard cabin bag allowance.

Important Details & Considerations:

  • Per Child Purchase: You buy the Family Plus package for each child on your booking. Adults do not purchase it for themselves; their seating/boarding is linked through the child’s package.
  • Who It’s For: It’s primarily aimed at families with children aged 2 to 11 years. Infants under 2 (sitting on a lap) do not need it.
  • Price: The cost varies by route and season. You must evaluate if the combined price for your children
