The Pitons, two mountainous volcanic plugs, form the island's most famous landmark. Saint Lucia is also home to the world's only drive in volcano, the Sulphur Springs. There are a number of small islands off the coast, the largest of which are the Maria Islands, located in the south-east of the island.
The average traveler can expect to pay $150-$400 per day when visiting St. Lucia. This means the cost of a week in St. Lucia will be, on average, between $1,000 to $2,800 per person or more.
Ideally, you should spend about three to five days in St. Lucia to get the full island experience. If you're able to extend your stay up to a week that's great, but I'd suggest a minimum of three full days (not including travel days).
Saint Lucia is known for their friendly people, amazing hiking trails and stunning mountains. Of all tropical island destinations close to US shores, this beautiful island comes as close as it gets in being an alternative for Hawaii.
The official language in St Lucia is English. However, Patois (also refered to as Creole) is also widely spoken. Creole is based on French, and many of the words are similar, if not the same. For example, Hello is still Bonjour and Thank-you is still Merci.
Alcoholic Drinks – A traveller who is 18 years and older is entitled to a duty free allowance of 40 fl ozs.of alcohol. Please note that any excess quantity up to 4 gallons is dutiable.
