"Stay and Scream" is a highly popular and effective strategy used by guests at Universal Orlando Resort during the annual Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) event. It is designed to give daytime park guests a head start on the haunted houses before the gates officially open to the general public for the evening. To participate, a guest must have both a valid daytime park admission and a separate HHN event ticket. Between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, guests head to designated "Stay and Scream" holding areas (such as the Today Cafe or Finnegan's Bar & Grill). Once the park officially closes for the day, these guests remain inside while the rest of the park is cleared. Because these holding areas are strategically located near the entrances of several haunted houses, the "Stay and Scream" group is released into the queues approximately 30 to 60 minutes before the front gates open. This allows savvy fans to knock out two or three of the most popular houses with minimal wait times. It is widely considered the best way to maximize a night at HHN without paying for expensive Express Passes, as it bypasses the massive crowds waiting at the main entrance.
