The arm reach test is a standard physical requirement in cabin crew recruitment used to ensure that a candidate can safely reach emergency equipment stored in high overhead compartments. During an assessment day, you will be asked to stand (usually barefoot) and reach up with one or both hands to touch a specific mark on a wall, which is typically set at 210 cm to 212 cm (approx. 6'11"). Some airlines, like Emirates or Qatar Airways, may allow you to stand on your tiptoes, while others require your feet to remain flat on the ground. This test is non-negotiable for safety reasons; in an emergency, every second counts, and a flight attendant must be able to retrieve fire extinguishers or oxygen bottles without assistance. If you cannot meet this height requirement during the initial screening, you are usually unable to continue the application process, regardless of your other qualifications or experience.
