With Disney MagicBands, you do not have to worry about carrying a key card with you wherever you go. Your band can be used to register to your room and serve as a key every time you need to enter.

While you don't need a Magic Band at Disney World, it can help make your vacation MUCH easier. Read on to learn everything you need to know to decide if it's worth it to buy one for your trip!
Does my toddler need a MagicBand? If your toddler is under three they do not need a ticket and therefore do not need a MagicBand. Children 3 and over will need tickets, park reservations and their own LL/Genie+ reservations, so a MagicBand would be useful, but is not necessary. See below for other options.
For guests who decide not to use MagicBands, you can ask for a Key to the World Card either when you check-in to your resort or go to Guest Services before entering your first park. Each guest will have their own card, and these cards are totally free. Cards feature a variety of designs.
Already have a MagicBand+ or MagicBand from a previous visit? You can reuse your current MagicBand+ or MagicBand. Depending on how much time has passed, battery health may limit your ability to receive Disney PhotoPass attraction videos and select attraction photos with MagicBand.
Depending on which features are activated for you, the MagicBand can function as your room key, resort entrance gate opener, park ticket, Lightning Lane redemption mechanism, charge card for food and merchandise, interactive game piece, PhotoPass identifier, and more.
If Rise of the Resistance is a must-do for you and you are trying to make the most of your day in the park, spending some extra cash for a Lightning Lane might be the way to go. Those who are staying at Disney World hotels have early entry and can hop in line as soon as the park opens for them.
Guests staying off property can purchase Magic Bands at the Walt Disney World Resort upon arrival or at shopDisney. These bands have many of the same perks where you can link your park ticket and account to the band to use it for admission, Genie+ reservations and more.
However, even if the long-range battery is no longer working, your MagicBand should still work for any Mickey to Mickey touchpoints, such as entrance tapstyles, Lightning Lane entrances, unlocking the door to your Disney Resort Hotel room, or point of sale terminals when charging purchases to your hotel room folio.
