What is the best day of the week to visit Venice Italy?

If you want the quietest' days avoid the weekend... We were there for a full week and we noticed that Fridays through Sundays were the busiest due to the cruise ships..... I'd say Tues and Wed were the quietest although its always crouded! Just venture away from San Marco and its not as bad.

In 2026, the best day of the week to visit Venice is Tuesday or Wednesday. Because Venice is a premier "weekend destination" for European travelers and a major port for cruise ships (which often dock on Fridays and Saturdays), the city experiences a massive surge in "day-tripper" crowds from Thursday through Monday. By visiting in the middle of the work week, you will find shorter lines for the vaporetto, more manageable crowds at St. Mark’s Basilica, and a much higher chance of securing a last-minute table at a popular bacaro (wine bar). This is particularly important now that Venice has implemented a timed entry fee for day visitors on specific peak dates; visiting on a Tuesday often falls outside these "high-pressure" fee windows. To stay grounded and enjoy the "authentic" Venice, aim to be out in the streets before 9:00 AM or after 6:00 PM, when the majority of the day-travelers have left, leaving the city’s quiet squares and misty canals to the locals and overnight guests.
