Let me describe the difference between Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. Disney Genie+ is a magical upgrade to your ticket that allows you to select Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the theme parks. These Lightning Lane entrances allow you to skip the regular standby line.

  1. First Priority – book these attractions at 7:00 am, as your first selection.
  2. Second Priority – these attractions tend to run out earlier in the day so get them sooner rather than later.

When making your selections, it is ideal to prioritize the Level 1 and Level 2 attractions. Level 1 priorities are attractions that run out of Genie+ return times quickly. These are the attractions that are typically best booked first, right at 7 a.m.

To make a Genie+ reservation, start on the Tip Board and select the experience that you want to book. In the “Review Details” screen, make sure to note the time of the reservation. It is very common for this to be a different time than you saw on the Tip Board, even if you refreshed the Tip Board right before clicking.

You now can only park hop AFTER 2PM. So you'll have to wait until well after lunchtime if you're planning on visiting another park. However, this rule is different for Annual Passholders.

You can only book two Individual Lightning Lanes per day. No matter how many parks you plan to visit in one day, you are only allowed to book two Individual Lightning Lanes. For example, you're planning to start your day in Hollywood Studios, but want to park hop over to Magic Kingdom in the afternoon.

The Genie 120-minute rule says that you can make a new reservation at most 2 hours from when you made the last one, and this countdown timer doesn't change if you modify the reservation. If you made it at, say, 11 a.m., then your two hours will be up at 1 p.m. even if you modify the reservation at noon.
