What is the best way to get around in Dubrovnik?

The easiest way to get around Dubrovnik is to use public transport. Here is your comprehensive guide to public transport in Dubrovnik, including Dubrovnik taxis, Dubrovnik bus routes, Airport Shuttle Bus and Dubrovnik ferry boats services.

The best way to navigate Dubrovnik is a combination of walking and the local Libertas bus network. The Old Town is a strictly pedestrian-only zone, meaning your own two feet are the only way to see the historic sites and limestone streets. For traveling outside the city walls to areas like Lapad or Babin Kuk, the orange Libertas buses are exceptionally efficient, frequent, and affordable. You can buy tickets at any "Tisak" kiosk or directly from the driver (though kiosks are cheaper). In 2026, ride-hailing apps like Uber are also very active and provide a good value for groups, especially when traveling to the main port (Gruž). Avoid renting a car if you are staying near the center, as parking is notoriously expensive and difficult to find. For a unique perspective, the Dubrovnik Cable Car takes you to Mount Srđ for panoramic views, and local ferries are the best way to reach nearby islands like Lokrum or the Elafiti archipelago.
