On United Airlines, the difference between Economy Plus and First Class is a distinction between "extra space" and "premium service." Economy Plus is a seat in the standard coach cabin that provides about 3 to 4 inches of extra legroom (34–35 inches of pitch) but offers the same seat width and service as regular economy. You get off the plane faster because you are in the front of the cabin, but your food and drink options remain the same as the rest of the "Main Cabin." In contrast, United First (Domestic First Class) is a completely different product. You sit in a wider, leather-padded seat with a much greater recline and roughly 37–39 inches of pitch. First Class passengers receive complimentary alcoholic beverages, high-end snacks, and, on longer flights, a full multi-course meal served on china. Additionally, First Class includes two free checked bags, priority security access, and priority boarding. Essentially, Economy Plus is a "comfort" upgrade for your legs, while First Class is an "all-inclusive" luxury upgrade for your entire travel experience.
