United offers two very different "upgraded" economy experiences. Economy Plus is simply a standard economy seat with roughly 3 to 4 inches of extra legroom (up to 34" pitch); it features the same service, food, and baggage rules as standard economy. United Premium Plus (Premium Economy), however, is a separate cabin with a physically different seat. These seats are wider, recline further, and include a dedicated leg rest and footrest. Premium Plus passengers receive elevated perks similar to domestic First Class: two free checked bags, priority boarding, Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, and an upgraded meal served on real china. While Economy Plus is often given for free to Premier Silver members at check-in, Premium Plus is a distinct class of service that usually requires a higher fare or a formal upgrade. In short: Economy Plus is about "extra space," while Premium Plus is about a "premium experience" with better food and amenities.
