The iconic castle at the center of Disneyland Paris is officially known as Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant, which translates to "The Castle of the Beauty in the Sleeping Forest." Unlike the Cinderella Castle in Florida or the Sleeping Beauty Castle in California, the French version was designed with a more whimsical, fairy-tale aesthetic to differentiate it from the real historic chateaus found throughout Europe. Standing at 50.9 meters (167 feet) tall, it features unique elements such as square trees and a lower dungeon area called La Tanière du Dragon ("The Dragon's Lair"), which houses one of the largest audio-animatronic dragons in the world. In 2026, it remains the only Disney castle globally to feature such an extensive, walk-through underground attraction.
