What is the history of the Crystal Cave?

Crystal Cave was probably first seen by prehistoric Archaic people who lived in the region between 8,000 and 1,000 B.C. The first recorded owners of Crystal Cave were William A. Wallace, followed by William Jenkins. Neither of these men made any attempt to develop the cave commercially.

At this time there were two levels of the cave that had been discovered. Four thousand people attended the grand opening of newly named Crystal Cave on June 7, 1942 (DiIoia, 2004).
