The largest Royal Caribbean ship in 2024 is the Icon of the Seas, which currently holds the title of the world's largest cruise ship. Debuting in January 2024, this "mega-vessel" has a staggering gross tonnage of 248,663 and spans nearly 1,200 feet in length. It can accommodate up to 7,600 passengers at maximum capacity and features 20 decks and eight distinct "neighborhoods." Iconic features include "Thrill Island," home to the largest waterpark at sea with six record-breaking slides, and the "AquaDome," a massive glass dome at the front of the ship for acrobatic performances. In late 2024, its sister ship, Utopia of the Seas, also entered service, but the Icon remains the leader in terms of sheer volume and passenger capacity. This class of ship is designed to be a "multigenerational vacation destination," combining the best of beach retreats, resort escapes, and theme park adventures into one massive, LNG-powered floating city.
