The largest waterpark in Germany is Tropical Islands Resort, located in Krausnick, about 60 kilometers south of Berlin. This massive facility is housed inside a former airship hangar, which is one of the largest freestanding halls in the world. It covers an area of roughly 66,000 square meters, providing a tropical climate year-round regardless of the German weather outside. The park features a "Tropical Sea" the size of three Olympic swimming pools, a "Lagoon" with waterfalls and whirlpools, and Germany's highest water slide tower, standing at 27 meters tall. Beyond the water attractions, it includes a massive indoor rainforest with over 50,000 plants, a sandy beach, and themed overnight accommodations ranging from tents to luxury lodges. While there are other major parks like Erding’s Therme Erding, which claims to be the largest thermal spa and water park combined, Tropical Islands remains the undisputed champion of scale for a single indoor "island" environment.
