Cruise ship decks are the floors that a ship contains. If you compare it to a building, then the decks on a ship would be the storeys. Cruise ships tend to have 12 – 16 decks.
The Lowest Deck (AKA the Orlop)This is the area where cables tend to be stowed, and it's usually located below the water line. It is suggested that the name “orlop” originates from the over-looping of cables.
Cruise lines may permit passengers carrying all their luggage to leave first. Since the luggage tag system may mean waiting hours before leaving, many guests opt to carry their bags to leave as early as possible. On the other hand, people carrying their own luggage leads to longer and slower self disembarkation lines.
On many, perhaps most, cruising crews the couple who own the boat take on the positions of skipper (most often the man) and first mate (usually the woman).
