What is the most popular beach in Cinque Terre?

Monterosso - Fegina beach In Monterosso, there are two long beaches with sand and pebbles, Fegina beach being the most famous one, in the new town.

The most popular and well-known beach in the Cinque Terre is Fegina Beach in the village of Monterosso al Mare. Unlike the other four villages, which have small rocky coves or harbors, Monterosso offers a wide, traditional shoreline with sand and pebbles, making it the only "true" resort-style beach in the region. It is instantly recognizable by the large, jagged rock jutting out of the water and the iconic rows of green and orange umbrellas. Because it is located just steps from the Monterosso train station, it is the most accessible beach for day-trippers and families. Another famous spot in Monterosso is Il Gigante Beach, named after the massive stone statue of Neptune that overlooks the sand. While Vernazza has a small sandy harbor beach and Riomaggiore has a pebble cove, Fegina remains the premier destination for sunbathing and swimming, though in 2026, it is highly recommended to book a "stabilimento" (beach club) spot in advance during the peak summer months.

Shopping and prices The Cinque Terre is not cheap. As everywhere in the world, tourism has raised prices. I often go to the market of La Spezia to shop for food, it's much cheaper than the stores of the villages. In restaurants, you have to expect Western European prices.
