What is the most used taxi app in the Netherlands?

We asked Dutch consumers about "Ride sharing/hailing / online taxi usage by brand" and found that "Uber" takes the top spot, while "Yeller" is at the other end of the ranking. These results are based on a representative online survey conducted in 2023 among 362 consumers in the Netherlands.

While Uber remains a dominant force in major Dutch cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Utrecht, the most trusted "local" taxi apps in the Netherlands are Staxi and DEXTR. Staxi is particularly popular because it offers fixed prices in advance, so passengers aren't surprised by the meter if they get stuck in traffic. DEXTR is also widely used for its transparency and use of reliable, local drivers across the entire country. For those using public transit, the 9292 app is the essential "all-in-one" tool that integrates trains, buses, and trams, often linking to taxi services for the "last mile" of a journey. Bolt is another significant competitor to Uber in 2026, often offering lower prices. If you are at a train station, you might also use the Bolt or Uber apps, but for a guaranteed, pre-booked fixed fare to Schiphol Airport, Staxi is generally considered the "gold standard" by locals.

The most used taxi app in the Netherlands is Uber. Uber has a significant presence in major Dutch cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and The Hague, offering ride-hailing services that are widely popular among both locals and tourists.

However, there are also other taxi apps used in the Netherlands, such as Bolt (formerly Taxify) and TCA (Taxi Centrale Amsterdam), but Uber remains the dominant player in the market. Traditional taxi companies also operate, but they have largely been overshadowed by ride-hailing apps in terms of convenience and accessibility.
