The big debut for Royal Caribbean in 2025 is Star of the Seas, the second ship in the revolutionary Icon Class. Launching in the summer of 2025 out of Port Canaveral, Florida, this ship is a near-twin to the Icon of the Seas, which currently holds the title of the largest cruise ship in the world. Star of the Seas is designed to be the "ultimate family vacation," featuring eight distinct "neighborhoods" that cater to different age groups and vibes. Key features include the massive "Category 6" waterpark, the "Crown’s Edge" skywalk thrill ride, and the "AquaDome," a high-tech entertainment space at the front of the ship featuring a 55-foot-tall indoor waterfall and high-diving shows. Additionally, Royal Caribbean has announced that the ship will feature several new dining concepts and a refined version of the "Surfside" neighborhood designed specifically for families with young children. Along with its sister ship, Star of the Seas is powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), making it one of the most environmentally friendly vessels in the fleet. It represents the company's commitment to "mega-ship" innovation, focusing on providing an all-encompassing resort experience that rivals land-based theme parks.
